Folks, if you want the CS80 without the 'weight'... Ski has done a FAB-U-LOUS job in bringing back the brass sounds in a new voice set for the EX's! I was privy to this a little while back, and urged Ski to not 'hold back something this good' (Glad you followed my advice Ski). BUT - Ski being so modest, has put the banner at the BOTTOM.
I'm trucking around here, and saw 'CS80' out of the corner of my eye - sure enough!

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING VOICE SET FOLKS! I thought the EX sounded 'BIG' before... This makes it absolutely 'HUUUGE'!
Congrats Ski! Amazing work my man!

Thanks, Ski

There's some good sounds in there.

The "Easter Egg" was my favourite.

Thanks, guys!

BTW, there's more than one "egg", but "Toroidal CS-80" is my favorite, too.

Here's a small version of the pdf "cover":

Well, without letting anymore cats out of the bag - I'll just say I'm a fan of Star Wars - especially Alec Guiness as Obie Wan Kanobi.

Very 'Force'ful.

Wow great!
Thanks!

I just wondered.
Did you used the samples I've put the link to on the board a while ago or is this an entirely different set?

Fuse - Yes I did, and the proper credits are given in the pdf docs. Thanks!

I was already familiar with www.hollowsun.com (some of their samples are very good), but I hadn't seen their new CS-80 samples until I saw your post. They needed a bit of work (especially the loops), but proved to be excellent raw material. All in all, they were pretty clean, and I didn't have to do any noise and/or hum reduction. I'm really pleased with the fact that we managed to make a set that's under 1 mb, and yet still has *21* samples covering a 5 octave range on the keyboard. That really translates into some sweet sounds when playing big chords. It's not quite real analog, but it comes very very close for something that's sample based.

Mykel - just click on the 'banner' right below here, beside the EX5tech small banner.
Any 'adverts' you see above or below forum pages will usually take you right to the source when you click on the them. Ski's really good at making life simple for us 'newbies'.

You'll see!

I just tried out the soundset, and once again it's fantastic! I must be making for more music than I do know if I want to keep up with Ski's releases...

Grtz,
Jeroen

Thanks, Jeroen! I'm really glad you like it. That's high praise, coming from you. Now that Westwood guy... that's another story... you never really can trust his judgement!

the cs80 patches sounds nice. what albums from early 80s featured that synth. the only one i have is the infamous band UK, with that great cs-80 sound in "ALASKA" played by Eddie Jobson. Did stevie Wonder use it?

Iggy - I think all 'the greats' have a CS80 on a few of their albums. Jean Michael Jarre, and Vangelis - definately! Keith Emerson, Wendy Carlos, Tomita, Klaus Schulze, they've certainly used a CS80 at some point my last dollar says.

Oh yeah, and Steve Winwood as well I believe?
(Stevie Wonder was more a Moog, Roland, and Kurzweil boy. Kurzweil was specifically designed with Stevie in mind. )

Don't forget Randy Newman - "I love L.A." anyone? If I remember correctly, that video had a CS80 riding along in the back of a pickup truck. Not exactly ideal conditions for keeping it in tune, eh?

I finally got these sounds loaded over the weekend. Needless to say they will have a permanent place in my Flash...

Right you are Powerpop! But I think Randy had brought the CS80 along to squish 'short people' while he was driving around?

The banner has been revised a bit... Notice that the blue @AMPFEA text is gone from the right edge. It's now available on our EXclusive Downloads page.

I guess we'll forgive you this time. Just don't make it a habit.

The above was intended to be funny.
