Well, the fiendish deed is done. Go download it while there's some bandwidth left! There are thirteen scary new WAVEs in this year's release. Three come from Dave Smith's new Prophet '08, three from the guys at freesound.iua.upf.edu, two from the Yamaha A4000/A5000 sample CDs (a couple of nice choirs), and five from some ancient video arcade games! Please see the included PDF for complete details on Halloween Ghoul 8. Extra special thanks go to: • Jim Attfield for a tremendous amount of tedious work in helping me build this year's .S1M WAVE file. Hey, there are 101 new HG8 Samples in those 13 new WAVES! It took a lot of mapping and tuning! • Derek Cook for the ghoulish Voice programming, and again for ex.factory, which makes releases like these possible. Wow, eight YEARS of Halloween Ghoul. Hard to believe! We hope you like these sounds as much as we enjoyed creating them. [ October 28, 2007: Message edited by: Ski ] ____________________ Ski www.ex5tech.com

What a cool way for an EX5 newbie to learn the ins and outs of loading from floppies (and making sure the RAM I bought off ebay is EX5-compatible !I bought the EX5 for VL, but there are so many dynamic AWM and FDSP sounds in there, I was really surprised. Luckily we didn't have too many kids come by trick-or-treating, I got to spend a lot of time auditioning the sounds, twiddling controllers, and waiting for floppies to load. My 3-year old made up a story about a monster, and then we listened to HG sounds to decide what the monster sounded like. Unfortunately she doesn't have the patience for the slowly evolving pads (which were some of my favorites). I loved all the ghosts, witches, heartbeat, frogs, and other sfx sounds too. Some other favorites (old HGs and new) were the Frankenstein organs/violins/synths (especially the one with the looped scratchy-record), the one where aftertouch controlled the vowel effect (Spooktacular?), Oct Shaman, Ghost Swamp, all the creepy choruses, and even Grim Reeder. Last night I went back and played with the bonus voices for a long time, lots of great stuff there as well. The "Joust" sound brought back memories of so many quarters spent just to make a giant bird flap higher than the other giant birds. Much thanks to the ex5tech community for putting together this awesome collection! I am now inspired to go through all the other collections of sounds on the site. BTW, anyone got a spare SCSI card? -j

I haven't yet taken the time to load these up, but are they configured to access the waves in FLASH or RAM ?sorry if that's a dumb question, I just didn't see it anywhere. Thanks, dB http://www.danielbailey.com

Hi Daniel,They are configured to use RAM waves as not everyone has flash. RAM to Flash conversion of voices is easily accomplished using the very excellent ex.factory librarian written by our very own Derek Cook. ____________________ Jim Don't tolerate rubbish Microsoft browsers - get Firefox 3!
