The are several recording modes: replace, overdub, step, punch in.The mode can be selected with the function keys under the screen after having pressed 'REC' and before pressing 'PLAY'. The EX5 retains the last mode selected. I guess you have loaded a .s1A file (synth all) file. Guys, if you want to master your EX5, a good step to begin with would be to read the manual. Imo it's a good time investment. And also look at the screen when you press a button! You would have noticed the tabs which appear immediately after pressing 'REC'. You can go fast with your EX5 once you master it, but don't expect to master it without taking a bit time to observe and to think. I hope this helps. __ And please post topics about recording in the 'Sequencing & Recording' forum, not in the 'Voice & Programming forum'. It probably is to do with the fact that MarcE distributed most of his sounds as S1A or S1Y files which include system settings. You can use ex.factory to "imprint" your own system settings into S1A or S1Y files downloaded from the internet. Check out the ex.factory PDF manual for details on how to do this. (ex.factory is available on our downloads page) ____________________ Regards, Derek Cook

You'd have to reset them all in utility mode, which means noting what they are, which is a bit of a pain.As mentioned, ex.factory has the facility to save the system settings from an S1A file as your set of default settings. Then before loading another S1A file (such as one downloaded from the internet) into the EX5, load the S1A file into ex.factory, load the default settings that you saved off, save the file and you can then load it into the EX5. All this is done with a few mouse clicks. ____________________ Regards, Derek Cook
