Hello all, this is just a quick note to let you know I have released version 5.0 of ex.factory, which is now hosted over at at http://www.xfactory-librarians.co.uk which is the new home I have set up for the "x.factory" series of librarians. I've taken the decision to setup my own website to host these librarians to provide more of a focus to what is becoming a growing family (there's a few more in the works). This new site is not meant to detract from nor be in competition with EX5Tech, nor does it break the long association of ex.factory with EX5Tech. ex.factory will also still be available via the EX5Tech downloads page, and I will still continue to answer ex.factory related questions (and many others!) posted over here on EX5tech. There is not much new in ex.factory 5.0, despite the version number jump. Basically I jumped the version number due to the launch of the new site, and because I have just recompiled all the sources to the latest version of Java (J2SE 5.0), which in itself is a significant "under the bonnet/hood" change. 5.0 does have some bug fixes relating to copying of referenced objects to different files(e.g. voices when you copy performances), so it's worth getting just for that if you make use of that feature. Even if you don't want the latest version, it's worth taking a look at the site for a glance at the excellent TorusGraphic(TM) that Torus provided for me. The program looks great!Do I understand it correctly that I need the MIDI part to import all the presets and so on from my EX5R? I want to back them up before I begin reprogramming the machine. Itīs a given purchase anyhow. Looking forward to see what can be done with AN1x and VL70m files. This machine is truly amazing! ____________________ www.aeongate.com

The Preset banks ar epermanent in the EX, you can't overwite them.If you mean the User banks that are present in the EX, then yes it's best to save them before you do anything. But you can save those to disk, you don't need MIDI just for that. ex.factory will read all EX file types. Due to the EX5 MIDI issues, it's best to view ex.factory MIDI support as a complement to file reading/writing, not a replacement. ____________________ Regards, Derek Cook
