i have installed the ASIB1 and i bought a zip 100 scsi and the cable that comes with it as two identical male connectors with 25 pins, apparently this is ok to connect to the zip but not to the ASIB1, what's the name for the right cable ending connecting to the ASIB1 thanks

You'll need a '50 Pin Mini SCSI' connector. I believe I had got a special cable direct from Adaptec at the time I bought my Zip drive? There are also adapters you can put on the end of your current 25pin to make it 50 mini as well. Look under SCSI at... www.adaptec.com first and/or try your nearest Apple or Radio Shack store for more help.

I went to a local electronics store and picked up a 25 pin to 50 pin adapter for about $17 for my SCSI Zip 100. If you can't find anything locally you can find good prices and any SCSI cable/adapter you can imagine at http://www.cnaweb.com
Do a search for SCSI adapter or drill down to their SCSI cable section. In some cases the adapter may be more expensive than getting a cable with the right connectors.

thanks you Piper and J.Westwood, i should find a solution now and continue to build my tracks with even more energy....... We dont have radioshack stores in France but i remember it to be one of the first in Microcomputers, kind of pionneers and then it was the glorious ZX81 from sinclair and now the magnificent blue EX5R with its zip scsi and its 50 pins cable....

Ahhhh, the ZX81! Search the world for that 16k add on, and wait 30 min for a cassette to load in Pac Man that was as slow as a calander when you did get to finally play it. Then if someone farted in the same room by the ZX81 - CRASH! And start all over again.
But it did prime me for the EX's nearly 20 years later. Good luck with your search Olex!
