after giving my EX7 a rest over several years (because of our small children), I restarted playing with it recently. Currently I am working on a cover version of the Braveheart theme and I am looking now desperately for a bagpipe voice.
I really hope that somebody of you guys can help me out or point me in the right direction. Maybe there is already a bagpipe in one of the downloads in the meber area, but I don't know. Maybe someone of you does.

might not be of some help right now, except you know somebody with a Roland JV- or XV- Series Synth with the "Orchestral II" sampleROMboard installed, which you could sample..

The only bagpipe sample which didn't annoy the crap out of me when I needed it for a medieval dance in a theatre piece came out of the above mentioned board. We are talking far before softwaresampler times here..

If nobody else comes up with sounds/samples in EXformat taking a look here might help, if you need a VSTplugIn or you use the AKaiformat CDrom which is available there, too. I bought that one around 1998 and still use some of the sounds once in awhile..

unfortunately I don't know anybody with a Roland JV- or XV- Series Synth. If I don't get any other suggestions I probably have to go for the Akai Sample Disk. But until then I will wait a little bit longer to see if someone comes up with an EX7 voice. Well, after doing some thinking ... if somebody has a good sample and is willing to share it then just let me know.

wow, this sounds really great. It's hard to imagine that the XV3080 will be able to top this, but I will wait for your next XV sound example.

Here is the 3080 version. It only had (what i could find, i could be wrong) a GM version of a bagpipe:

I think the Fantom bagpipe is way above the (GM?) bagpipe of the XV. Compared to the Fantom voice this sounds rather poor.
The 2nd Fantom example is also great. With the effects applied it sounds a little bit like the bagpipe being played in a large concert hall compared to the first one. Is it possible to send me a sample of the first example (maybe C3 if possible) or if you like of both of the Fantom examples?

I'll make sure to sample the fantom. Is C3 sufficient? It is no problem for me to sample the drone two samples per octave and the pipe every other key if you like? I don't know how the original Fantom sound is sampled (not easy to hear). Also, i have the Fantom connected to my digital mixer via sp/dif and use 48khz/24 bits. Is that ok or would you like 44.1/16?

I believe i can do it this evening.

Finally managed to get some time to do it :-)

It is a 18Mb wav (24bit/48khz) so you might need to adjust it to 16/44.1.

thank you very much for all your patience and efforts. As soon as my little childs give me a break for some time I will sit down and feed the samples into the EX. I will let you know how everything went (but this can take also some time).
